23andMe - Beyond genetic testing

Well, thanks to info gleaned from an ABC podcast (broadcast Monday 24 November) called the Health Report I learned about an entirly new application for 23 things. 23 Chromosomes - that's how many each human has.

This site offers online genome mapping. Want to know if you're predisposed to any one of a range of scary diseases? Simple spit and test will tell you. apparently you can have 'spit parties'.

Ties in nicely with Googles new service offering online registering of medical records doesn't it. And guess what! One of the founders of 23andMe is married to a Google boss and founder. Talk about keeping it in the family!

The Wonderful World of Edward Monkton

Check out Mr Edward Monkton's website for his interesting thoughts. Here's a taste:

The Beautiful Frock

'Buy me, Lady,' said the frock, 'and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL and WHOLE and COMPLETE HUMAN BEING.'
'Do not be SILLY,' said the Man, 'for a frock alone cannot do that.'
'TRUE,' said the Lady. "I will have the SHOES and the BAG as well!'
